# Research areas

The Faculty, with almost 250 faculty members and PhD students, has its strengths in selected fields of mathematics and computer science. In recent years we observe a substantial progress in research in truly multidiciplinary areas such as financial mathematics or computational biology. As a sign of recognition of research strength of the Faculty, it was invited to join in 2007 the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) as a full member.
